1. To support and promote arts and cultural programming in Peterborough and the surrounding region.

2. To increase the visibility and vital role of the arts sector within
the City of Peterborough by coordinating an annual showcase of local
arts production including visual, performing and new media arts.

3. To support artists and arts groups working in a wide variety of
artistic disciplines in the creation and production of new works, and to
promote collaborative, large-scale public art projects that would not
be possible otherwise.

4. To create opportunities for arts, culture and business sectors to
work together by inviting businesses, community arts organizations, arts
service organizations, arts centers, public and private galleries to
produce projects and programs with Artsweek in mind.

5. To advance, foster and promote appreciation and understanding of arts
and culture by promoting local arts production, resources and
educational opportunities.

6. To support local producers and organizations whose mandate is open and inclusive.
